Vocational Analysis
The purpose of a vocational analysis is to assess the diminution of earning capacity based upon an individual’s residual handicaps, their ability to compete for jobs in the labor market, and their ability to maintain competitive employment. A vocational analysis is complex and involves a comprehensive clinical interview, a review of relevant records, collaboration with members of the treatment team, and reliance upon multiple sources of research data to formulate conclusions. Based upon the current and anticipated future status of the individual, pre-injury versus probable post-injury earnings are specified so that the diminution of earning capacity can be further quantified. In non-catastrophic cases, a rehabilitation plan is formulated as a means of preparing the individual for a return to work and may include recommendations for vocational testing and guidance, retraining, therapy, assistive technology, and other items and services.
